Welcome to Oakwood Bible Church, a place to belong and grow!
March 24, 2020 – OBC Daily Devotional Series
I have launched an online resource for the folks at OBC in the way of a daily devotional that utilizes Facebook Live. I plan to publish these every day (M-F) at 10am for the duration of the “Stay home, stay safe” order. I will be there today, Pastor Bill will lead the devotional tomorrow!
If you are active on FB you will easily find these…they will be posted on the OBC FB Page. If you do dot use FB you can still check them out by simply clicking here. This link will take you to the OBC Facebook Page. You will then need to scroll down a bit until you see the video post. Let’s stay connected!
God is on the throne and He will see us through to the end!
Love in Christ,
All activities for 3/22/20 and 3/29/20 are cancelled due to the current environment and CDC recommendations. However! We intend to have a Facebook Live video stream with sermon during our regular service time Sunday mornings. Please join us! The stream should be available here or on the Facebook page Sunday morning.
March 18, 2020
In an effort to comply with the mandates and recommendations of our civic leaders and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our Church family as well as the well being of our wider community, nation and world, your leadership team has decided to forgo our normal schedule of meetings for the next two Sundays.
On the brighter side, I want you to know that we will be looking to strengthen our connections as a body by increasing our online presence, especially on the church Facebook Page and plan to live-stream our Sunday am Sermon from that platform at 11 am each week. The service will also be available to be heard and viewed on the church website. Click here to find the OBC Facebook page and be sure to “like” it so you can be included in the conversation and interact with us there. By increasing our use of these virtual spaces we hope to open opportunities for many of us to use our gifts, remembering that the Apostle Paul instructed us to be found “…speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.”
Please don’t forget the financial needs of the church during this time. The online giving system is safe and secure and can be easily found here. You can also send your tithes and offerings by check through the mail.
My hope is that this wonderful body of believers will draw even closer both to our Lord and to one another in these trying days. He is our loving Father and has promised to be near us, to not forsake us and to hear our prayers .He wants to gather us together in His loving arms and will not permit us to be scattered and torn apart. We are His own dear flock for which He gave His Life.
Please remember to pray fervently in the coming days for our leaders (The OBC Church Board) who have shown courage, grace and wisdom during this stressful period. Pray also for our secular leaders at every level, including our President and his team of experts as they wage war against this invisible enemy. And pray also for me as I do what I can to help this church through the transition as God gives me strength.
When we come through this, (and we surely will!) I am convinced that we will be able to say that though our Enemy meant all this for harm “…God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Gen. 50:20.
And now “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
I’ll catch you online Sunday!
